Thirunakkara Pooram is an annual temple festival that takes place in the town of Kottayam in the southern Indian state of Kerala. The festival is celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva, who is the main deity of the Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple. The festival is known for its grand and colorful processions, which feature elephants, traditional music and dance performances, and a variety of cultural programs

The day began with the arrival of ‘cheru poorams' from nearby temples . The Pakal Pooram ceremonies started 4:30 p.m.on March 23rd 2012 with caparisoned elephants arranged on either side of the Thirunakkara Sreemahadevar temple ground it is a replica of the famous pooram on the grounds of Vadakkumnathan temple, Thrissur also called thrissur pooram and an annual event held in March every year.
