The day began with the arrival of ‘cheru poorams' from nearby temples . The Pakal Pooram ceremonies started 4:30 p.m.on March 23rd 2012 with caparisoned elephants arranged on either side of the Thirunakkara Sreemahadevar temple ground it is a replica of the famous pooram on the grounds of Vadakkumnathan temple, Thrissur also called thrissur pooram and an annual event held in March every year.

the percussion ensemble was performed by Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, and team in the ‘althara melam' style while Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar and his team performed the‘Pandi Melam' .
